Customs Compliance Manager
Overview

The Finance department based in the Cork plant supports all functions of the business including the European Technical Support and Applestore, European Logistics, Manufacturing Operations & Asia Pac Operations. The Finance department is also heavily involved in new Apple initiatives including the expansion activities within Europe.

EMEIA Finance are seeking a Specialist within the Customs area. The role is within the Trade Compliance Finance group based in Cork. This group supports trade compliance across the EMEIA organization specifically with regard to Customs, VAT and Intrastat. This is a senior role supporting Apple’s ongoing expansion and growth in EMEIA.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of BTI applications for Apple’s core products.
  • Identification of duty optimization licenses in Apple’s current model.
  • Involvement in reconciliation and impact analysis of Customs, VAT & Intrastat for EMEIA operations.
  • Supervision / preparation of Customs submissions and preparation of the reconciliation of customs clearances within EMEIA against Apple’s logistics model.
  • Responsible for calculation and submission of customs returns in line with Apple’s customs licenses across EMEIA.
  • Capable of introducing business strategies with respect to Customs processes on classification, valuation etc.
  • Participating/Leading projects as a key team member covering all areas of Trade Compliance.
  • Reviewing and re-engineering of monthly compliance cycles in conjunction with the Compliance manager.
  • Developing processes and reporting in line with Apple’s continuing growth and product evolution.
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the processes and systems to isolate potential opportunities for automation and simplification of processes and licenses.
  • Liaison with the business including logistics, planning, BPR and the wider finance organization.
Requirements

  • Previous experience with a multi-national / blue chip company in a similar role a distinct advantage.
  • Significant customs knowledge (e.g. classifications, valuation, optimization licenses).
  • Must possess excellent analytical, communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Capability to take on business knowledge and relate this to potential Trade Compliance impacts.
  • This role requires exceptional levels of interrogation and an ability to interpret large volumes of information.
  • Systems (Excel, SAP) and Projects experience are important.
  • The successful candidate must be motivated, flexible, a self-starter who works well both individually and in teams.
